Southwest Texas Birding Tour - single supplement

Two areas of southwest Texas – the Hill Country and the Big Bend area – are legendary among birders. This is partly because these areas are rich in bird diversity, but more so because they are home to three birds that are not found anywhere else in the United States: Colima Warbler, Golden-cheeked Warbler, and Black-capped Vireo. If you want to see any of these birds, this is the place you must go. We’ll target this trio of birds, and a couple hundred more! 

We’ll start our tour in the scenic Hill Country of the Edwards Plateau, with its limestone hills, spring wildflowers, and ancient oak trees. We’ll spend an evening at the Rio Bat Cave as 10-12 million Mexican Free-tailed Bats emerge from the cave for the evening. Then we’ll move westward to the limestone canyons, mountain peaks, and hidden springs and waterfalls of Big Bend National Park – which boasts the biggest bird list of any of our national parks. Our tour will conclude in the Davis Mountains, a sky island area surrounded by desert that provides opportunities for additional birds not yet encountered on our trip. Join us for this adventure!

Tour fee: $2850 ($300 deposit due with registration)

Participant Cancellation and Refunds: If cancellation occurs before May 1, $100 of your deposit will be held. For cancellations occurring between May 1 and April 1, your deposit will not be refunded, but any additional payments will be. For cancellations occurring after April 1, only separable expenses as returned by service providers can be refunded. Note: We try to be as fair as possible, while still maintaining the financial integrity of our tours. If we can fill your space with another participant, this can provide flexibility regarding refunds, even after April 1 - but it should not be assumed that other participants are available. Participants are encouraged to consider trip cancellation insurance to protect their investment in this tour if cancellation is a possibility.

Conditions: In consideration of my voluntary participation in this tour, I acknowledge the potential hazards and risks inherent with travel and outdoor activities, and I hereby release all elected and appointed officials, employees, volunteers, and agents of Seven Ponds Nature Center, KoziBirding, and guide David Sarkozi from any and all liability for any potential injuries, including death. Tour organizers cannot accept responsibility for additional expenses due to delay or changes in air or other services, sickness, weather, strike, or other causes. All such expenses will have to be borne by the participant as the tour fee provides for arrangements only as described in the itinerary and for the time slated. Baggage is at the owner’s risk entirely. The right is reserved to make changes in the itinerary where deemed necessary by the tour leaders and such alterations shall be made without penalty to the tour organizers. No refund can be made for unused portions of the tour unless arrangements are made in sufficient time to avoid penalties.
